His research deals mainly with the contribution of aerosols to the nutrient composition of our seas. He is interested in how anthropogenic development and natural disturbances may influence phytoplankton community structure. She has also investigated dietary retention in sea cucumbers using organic matter and fatty acid analyses. Currently, she is exploring harmful algal blooms, focusing on how macronutrients and metals influence their physiology. This project is envisioned to contribute to the advancement of basic knowledge about coral reef health as well as aid in policy making in relation to utilization of coral reef ecosystems for fisheries activities.
