The Inorganic Biogeochemistry and Biotechnology Laboratory (IBR Lab) of the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute, UP Diliman was established under the leadership of Dr. Irene B. Rodriguez on October 15, 2020.

Among our current projects, we are currently working on pioneering a fully-equipped and capable metallomics facility for analysis of local trace metal and nutrient samples. The IBR Lab is interested in multidisciplinary marine research involving the cycling of trace metals and nutrients, and how it affects varied marine organisms. These include: bacteria, phytoplankton (and harmful algal bloom species), seaweed, corals, invertebrates, among many others.

We are excited to develop our national capabilities of marine biogeochemistry and metallomic analyses, and we look forward to working with you!
